
Surf of Kuta is where
it all began. When young American couple arrived
there in the thirties, Kuta Beach was a quiet fishing village.
Now the surf have attracted people from around the world seeking for sea, sand and sun. Kuta become world famous site for swimming, surfing or just lying on the sand.
Swimming is always exiting here, however for safety always swim between flags. The waves and breakers also excellent for body surfer, and novice as well as experienced surfer.

The beach break called Halfway Kuta, offshore near the Hotel Istana Rama, is the best place to learn surfing. More challenging breaks are on the shifting sandbars off Legian, around the end of Jl Padma; and also Kuta Reef, 1km out to see off Tuban Beach.
Several shops on Jl Legian sell big-brand surf gear and surfboard. Smaller shops on the side streets hire out surfboard and boogie boards. And some can arrange transport to nearby surfing spots. Redz ( Jl Benesari) is a reputable operator for board rental.
Tubes Surf Bar it the surfers’ hangout. It shows surfing videos, and publishes a tide chart, which is widely circulated. Also keep an eye out for free surfing magazines.

Parasailing is mostly available in Tanjung Benoa near Nusa Dua or in the Sanur area.

An extreme water sport! Best time is from May until October in the dry season when the wind is around 12-15 knots. Prime spots are Canggu (advanced only)
Complete beginners can get lessons and try at Sanur Lagoon. Local shops can provide equipment hire and lessons.

Located in south-west Bali ... This is where the world famous surf waves are to be found. Uluwatu, Impossibles, Bingin - poetically named waves that break on shallow reefs creating those lovely long long tubes...

Kuta is Bali's premier surfing beach. Beginner or expert, Kuta caters to all. Lessons are available for beginners plus board rental if you need basic equipment. The locals and regular surfers will tell you the best places.
Need a ride out to the outer reef? No problem boats are available for hire in Tuban, or opt for more mellow beach breaks in front of the Hard Rock hotel. Serious surfers now head for the Bukit Peninsula.

The story goes that Kuta's rolling waves were discovered by the first surfers in the 1930's. They've been drawing those in search of sun, sea and long rides through glassy tubes ever since.
Bali's coastline provides an ideal place for surfing. Reef breaks, lagoons and varying conditions create great waves for both veteran surfers and newbies. Experienced surfers can head to the outer reef breaks, while newbies can opt for a gentler ride in the lagoons. Many local shops in Kuta cater to surfers, so if you've forgotten wax, rashguards, etc., it's not a problem. You can buy or rent surfboards from the beach by the hour or the day (negotiable) You can also buy the latest surfer gear that goes with it.
